Canva is an online tech tool that allows you to make many different types of posters, infographics, invitations, along with many other things. I chose a template under posters and then edited it from there to fit the requirements outlined by my virtual co-op teacher, Mrs. Woller.
I created two different posters. One of them was for cellular respiration and one was for photosynthesis. Both posters outlined the basic inputs and outputs of these processes. Mrs. Woller wanted an easy to read and understand poster that explained the processes in a simple way.
Canva could fit into many different components of Danielson Framework of Teaching depending on what the Canva is demonstrating. If it is a rules/classroom procedures poster, it would fit under domain 2, classroom environment. But for mine on a topic in class, it fits under domain 3, instruction. Specifically, it fits under 3C, engaging students in learning. Having a visually pleasing poster that explains different topics in class can motivate the students. Another reason it fits into 3C is that Canvas are typically meant to have few words on it. This makes it simple for students to understand and have one place where important parts of the subject are written down.
I really enjoy Canva because of the accessibility of the tech tool and of how user-friendly it is. It also allows you to be creative while still having templates that you can choose from. I really like that the templates are there to choose from because it sparks ideas while allowing you to use your own creativity to change it as needed. It relates to one of the four C’s; creativity. If a teacher assigned the students a project using Canva, the students would have the opportunity to use their own creativity to show what they learned in class. When a teacher makes a Canva, they are also tapping into their own creativity and showing the students different opportunities they have to explore their own creativity. This tool is definitely one that I would use in my future classroom in a multitude of ways. I would make a classroom procedures poster that was simple but also easy to understand. Depending on what grade level I end up teaching, I would love to incorporate a project where students make their own Canvas. One way to do use Canvas in a project would be one where students were required to study something of interest to them and share statistics or facts they learned through their research. This would then be presented in a Canva done by the students and shared with the rest of the class.
